MEET TSUNAMI DANCERS CAUSING A STORM IN THE EAST AFRICAN ENTERTAINMENT WATERS.
They have been in existence for the longest time in the history of Dance Groups from not just in
Mombasa, but countrywide. The Dance Group, Tsunami, was originally founded in the year 2000,
and its legacy has been passed down from one generation to the next.
The group comprises of 7 members who both metin high school, with the love of dance being their
unifying factor. Together, they've been able do a lot in their journey to greatness. Following are some of the memorable moments in their dance career as a team: Sakata Season 3-First Runners Up, Katika Season 1-First Runners Up, Orange Beat Ya Street-Second Runners Up, Sakata Mashariki-Semi Finals.
Among the awards that they have won as a dance group include:
Talanta Events Mombasa,
Coast Awards (3 years in arow),
Nzumari Awards (3 years in a row),
Kenya Dance Crew Awards,
Mombasa Break Session, where they had one of their own, Bboy, as the
overall winner.
Tsunami are also the official
Dancers for Safaricom Mpesa Awards-one of the many corporate shows by Safaricom of which
they are part.
Tsunami Dancers are not just good in winning awards, they do feature in videos too and perform
in shows. Among the notable artists they've performed for in shows include: Yemi Alade Diamond Platnumz, Ali Kiba, Yamoto Band, Professor Jay, our very own Akothee Akothee, Amoury Beyby and Chikuzee.
They also performed at the recently held Stylus DJ Awards.
In Music Videos, they have worked with; Cannibal, Mama Sizo, Young-C, again, Akothee and finally Amoury Beyby.
The Dance Group also involves itself in side hustles, all dance-related. For one, they are the
official Dance Instructors for the Nyali Kids Club and are also Aerobic Trainers.
Through dance, Tsunami has been involved with various high profile events like the Marter Heart
Run and the Wapi Wapi Tour, through which they got to travel to various parts of Kenya and
Tanzania. They also happen to be nominees in the Africa Dance Awards Competition in not just one, but two categories, namely Best Dance Crew and Best Dressed Dancer (Luwi Macreepa).
To vote for them as the Best Dance Crew in Africa, sms DC6 to 20977, and to vote for Luwi
Macreepa as the Best Dressed Dancer in Africa, sms ED4 to 20977.
Successful as they may sound, Tsunami Dancers are facing some very serious challenges at the moment. For one, they lack a Manager. This has been a major challenge to them as they never have someone to look out for their needs. Most times they are taken advantage of to perform for very little or no pay at all. Having a Manager has always been their dream ever since forming the group. Their wish is that this post serves the purpose of proving how serious and capable they are. So if you are reading this and are capable of managing them, kindly get in touch.
