A MESSAGE OF PEACE,HOPE AND RÉSTORATION FROM LIKONI PUPILS.
As the Kenya music festivals came to a conclusion late last term,a
masterpiece verse touched the hearts of many Kenyans. Performed by
Timbwani Baptist primary school from Likoni, the verse titled KENYA
TUNALIA brings forward a theme affecting many Kenyans especially from
their home area Likoni. Although many verses performed at the festival
brought forward current affairs which were educative enchanting and entertaining, the one
from Timbwani Baptist Likoni primary school stood out.
Hailing from a place where terrorism and violence stroke. four pupils
assisted by their music club patron and teacher Mr Godwin Wambua
decided to perform a Swahili verse to advocate for peace, hope and
restoration.
Written and directed by Wambua, the verse brought out
clearly the bitter cry of Likoni kids praying for peace."Nani
asiyetamani amani jamani, mpeketoni likoni Kenya tunalia si" quoting
from one of the verse's lines."Likoni is one of the affected areas
when it comes to terrorism and insecurity matters thats why we decided
to perform the verse to advocate for peace in Likoni and the rest of
the country, "said Wambua.
The verse banged first position at the sub-county to regional level
and fourth position at the national level. The four pupils ;Felix
Mudulia,Sarah Jonathan,Jacinta Kalamba and Mwanajuma Rashid used the
spoken-word style in presenting the verse."We were very pleased to
perform the verse at the national level as this was the only
opportunity for us to pass out our message and advocate for peace and
share out what likoni pupils have in their hearts ,"said Felix the
only boy in the group who also did his Kenya certificate of primary education this year
