Watch This Space: Gospel sensation Michael Yena pens a new deal with a Nairobi based producer.
First time Groove Awards winner from Mombasa county has had
his good days this year. Michael Yena who hails from Kilifi County was
presented with best song Coastal county at this year’s Groove Awards for his
song “Rafiki”. Now you might think it was a bed of roses for him but the truth
of the matter is he had to redo the video of this particular song for the
second time after the first video could
hardly get any airplay due to its poor quality. In his acceptance speech
at the awards, he said that God has been so faithful to him that he did not
spend a penny in any of his videos as he got a generous producer who did
everything for him free of charge. Bakari Ousman who recently moved to Mombasa
from Nairobi is Yena’s producer and manager and has a newly music company down
at the Coast which is currently the hotbed of uprising Coast gospel artistes.
Last month, Michael Yena got a call Dr Gooya who is a gospel
artiste and a videographer in Nairobi under and offered Yena a recording deal
and even did the video for his latest song pamoja which was released last week.
Michael has new songs that he is set to release before the end of the
year, including a collabo with Camp David, Vkp and HHH
,a gospel artiste from Uganda.
